The use of “nofollows” in coding for outbound links has been recommended to improve the SEO of the websites.

Because nofollows cover the website against links to the addresses which may be considered by Google as harmful or spam-related.

In short, using the ‘nofollow’ attribute is one of the most effective ways of ensuring that your outbound linking doesn’t harm your website’s SEO.

Google’s Matt Cutts: ‘The rel=’nofollow’ attribute is an easy way for a website to tell search engines that the website can’t or doesn’t want to vouch for a link…Nofollow is recommended anywhere that links can’t be vouched for.

Search Engine Watch’s Justilien Gaspard recently advocated the practice, explaining that online marketers should not turn their nose up at nofollow links as they can still create traffic.
